Dr. Melanie Zhang immigrated from China when she was in her teens. She attended UC Berkeley for undergraduate studies and double majored in Molecular Cell Biology and Business Administration. After doing healthcare consulting for a year, she decided to become an Optometrist and attended the UC Berkeley School of Optometry, graduating with Honors in 2012.
She then joined the US Air Force, practicing in a large military hospital in Texas. There, she developed special interests in dry eye therapy, contact lenses, LASIK management, and ocular diseases management. She has since practiced in many places with a focus in contact lens fitting and myopia control.
As a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Dr. Zhang keeps up with the latest technology and research in vision sciences in order to better serve her patients. She is fluent in Mandarin and can speak clinical Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities, movies and spending time with her husband and 2 kids.
